I’m fascinated by how things (and people) work, and why they work that way. This curiosity has taken me through life, re-discovering myself, architecture school and most importantly, into product design.
This curiosity is my north star throughout my design process, guiding me to find the right solutions for the right people and grow my craft every day.
First of all, I really love what I do.
Hi, I'm Oluwa-damilola (you can call me 'Dami') and I've spent over a decade just designing, I've mastered so many skills across a diverse range of disciplines - from graphic design and branding to animation and illustration, architecture, and now product design - phew!
My background has been one for the books, learning a lot on the way. For example, architecture taught me to apply agile principles, critical thinking, obsessive attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to build, test, and iterate.
I also gained valuable leadership, communication skills and working with diverse clientele as a freelancer. All of these prepared me for a transition into UX design. I completed online courses, certifications, internships and mentorships to learn the fundamentals of user research, empathy, and true design thinking.
Throughout my career, I've shown a deep understanding and care for user, business, and market needs, coupled with a strategic mind. I take these insights and translate them into effective solutions that add value to businesses and delight users. I thrive on collaborating with cross-functional teams to create products that people love.
I'm looking to bring my passion, skills, and collaborative spirit to a team doing the coolest stuff ✨
Beyond work, I'm so blessed to contribute immensely to the tech industry - home and abroad. Like I said, I really love what I do.
I’m volunteering as a design mentor on ADPList, a global knowledge exchange community where I help designers at various levels with the skill sets and clarity to advance in their careers. I have mentored over 1600 minutes with mentees from over 12 countries, I've also been named top 1% mentor 6 months in a row!
I volunteer at Design Chics as community advocate and programs coordinator. One of the coolest things I've done was creating a resource library, providing members with a centralised hub for valuable resources and fostering a nurturing support system.
Recently, I founded a start-up called Tabs → a go-to resource and inspiration library giving African designers, developers, and product teams the resources they need to build better products for their users.
When I'm not doing all these, I'm attending or hosting tech community events, trying out new restaurants, playing tennis, rewatching the office, or attempting to master french on Duolingo (Oui, Oui)
